North Bay Aerial (2001)

My husband and I were flying from Santa Rosa to the East Bay in our Taylorcraft – a small classic fabric-covered plane. It is a great platform for aerial photography because I can open my side window in flight -- shooting through a window really limits image quality. This was a beautiful morning with the light valley haze which forms in northern California in clear winter weather. The hills rise above the haze in such a lovely perspective. We were between Petaluma and Sonoma when I shot this. San Francisco is just to the left of the picture. The highest peak in the background is Mt. Tamalpaias.
